At Sea

Well, I’m back on board a moving vessel and headed out across the great big, blue open. Out of all the modes of travel, I must confess that I do love ships. I absolutely love the feeling of being out on the water–the wind whipping my hair as the engines of the MV National Geographic Explorer slowly push me across the map.

But where exactly am I traveling to this time? Some of you sleuths have figured it out, some have guessed my first stop, and some of you are just along for the ride. And my what a ride it’s been (so far)! My first 24 hours at sea began calmly, until the sea worked itself up into 10-foot swells. Now it’s settled back down again, just in time to stand on deck and enjoy the low golden sun changing the color of the ocean. Meanwhile, a posse of petrels and albatrosses keep swooping past my head. I am forever mesmerized by their grace and determination.

Sun, wind, and birds is a good day, I’d say.
